Cannabis Varieties
Picture

What are the varieties of cannabis?

The main varieties of cannabis include sativa, indica, hybrids, and ruderalis, which is also known as hemp, however, most varieties consumed today largely stem from indica.

Sativa
Taller plant, thinner leaves, mind enhancing, more CBD, best in the morning, more stimulating and energizing.
Picture
Indica
Shorter plant, thicker leaves, mind relaxing, more THC, best at night, calming effects.

Hybrid
Hybrids come in a wide range of combinations of Sativas and Indicas, and they have more balanced effects.

Ruderalis
Ruderalis is most known as 'hemp', which is commonly used for industrial purposes. It is small in size and wild looking with fewer branches than Sativa or Indica.

Terpenes

What is a terpene?

Terpenes are organic compounds responsible for creating the unique aroma of a cannabis plant.

You can thank terpenes for all the cannabis flavours and aromas you love. Whether you smoke cannabis flower, dab concentrates, or vaporize, terpenes are hard at work delivering tasty citrus, diesel, woody, pine, skunky, coffee, spicy, herbal, or tropical flavours to your palate.

Terpenes do more than provide flavour and aroma. They also support other cannabis molecules in producing wanted effects. We call this the entourage effect, and it’s the reason terpenes have become such a critical piece of the cannabis puzzle.

Entourage Effect
Picture

What is the entourage effect?

The Entourage effect is best described as the combination of all of the various cannabinoids and terpenes to produce the overall effect associated with cannabis consumption.

Cannabis contains hundreds of molecules that have the ability to directly interact with our bodies and minds. Cannabinoid molecules are relatively unique to the cannabis plant, but other plant-derived molecules such as flavonoids and terpenes also bind to our cells and influence our experiences.
